SEA Aquarium, Sentosa Island, Singapore
The SG$450 million dollar Marine Life Park and SEA Aquarium on Sentosa Island is one of the largest parks of its kind and is part of the SG$6.5 billion dollar integrated resort and waterpark located just off the coast of Singapore. Open to the public in 2012, this dual level ecosystem is home to over 100,000 marine species and has a massive 60 million litre total water volume.
Following the silk trade route from China to Africa across 49 different habitats the park also provides interactive encounters with fish, stingrays and sharks and a snorkelling ‘swim reef’ experience where visitors can float with the current through an impressive display of coral and reef fish species. Subcontracted by Sunshine Coast based companies Aquatic Environmental Systems and Crossley Architects, ART were site based for over twelve months during construction providing advice for theming contractors on artificial environments for species specific habitats.
ART’s services included-
• 3D maquette scale models of all aquarium exhibits.
• Consultancy on construction and artistic finishes on all artificial environments including artificial rock, trees, plants, logs, reef-scapes, artificial corals, murals and full size sunken dowh.
